Chain Armor (链甲 liàn jiǎ) was flexible armor made of interlocking metal rings. It provided excellent protection against slashing weapons while allowing greater mobility than solid plate armor. Chain armor was favoured by cavalry officers who needed to move freely while mounted.

The Three Kingdoms period saw significant developments in military technology, particularly in crossbow design and armor construction. These innovations reflected the constant warfare and the need for tactical advantages.
