Signal Flags (令旗 lìng qí) were coloured banners used by commanders to communicate orders across the battlefield. Each colour and pattern had specific meaning: red for advance, white for retreat, yellow for hold position. The system allowed complex manoeuvres without verbal commands.

Historical context

Artifacts and ceremonial objects carried deep symbolic meaning during the Three Kingdoms period. They represented continuity of Han culture, legitimate authority, and the refined tastes of the aristocracy even amid constant warfare.
