Battle of Kuangting 匡亭之战

In 197, Cao Cao defeated Yuan Shu at Kuangting. Yuan Shu's power in the Huai region collapsed; he fled and later died in failure.

The Battle of Kuangting (匡亭之战) was fought in 197 when Cao Cao attacked Yuan Shu. Yuan Shu had declared himself emperor and controlled territory in the Huai region. Cao Cao defeated him at Kuangting; Yuan Shu’s forces collapsed. Yuan Shu abandoned his capital and fled. He later tried to hand the Imperial Seal to Yuan Shao and died in 199. The battle removed Yuan Shu as a rival and consolidated Cao Cao’s control in the centre.
