Battle of Xingyang 荥阳之战

Cao Cao's forces fought at Xingyang in the early warlord period. Cao Hong was among the commanders; the battle was part of the contest for control of the Central Plain.

The Battle of Xingyang (荥阳之战) took place during the early warlord period when Cao Cao was fighting for control of the Central Plain. Xingyang lay in a crucial position; control of it helped secure supply lines and access to Luoyang and the surrounding region. Cao Hong fought at Xingyang and in the campaigns that led to Cao Cao’s dominance in the north, including the decisive Battle of Guandu against Yuan Shao.
