The Central Protector of the Army (中护军 zhōng hùjūn) was a key military post responsible for commanding the imperial guard and selecting military officers. Zhao Yun held this position under Shu Han, reflecting Liu Bei’s deep trust. In Wei, the Sima family used control of this position to consolidate power before establishing the Jin dynasty.
