Dongwucheng (東武城) was a county in Qinghe Commandery, Ji Province, in what is now the Wei County area of Hebei. Cui Yan was born there. He served Yuan Shao and later Cao Cao, and was known for his integrity and outspokenness; he was imprisoned and died after a dispute over the succession and Cao Pi’s conduct.
