Jia Chong 贾充 Gonglü 公闾

Jin minister and general; close to Sima Shi and Sima Zhao; commanded forces against Zhuge Dan and in the conquest of Shu; urged Sima Zhao to accept the Nine Bestowals.

Jia Chong (simplified: 贾充, traditional: 賈充, pinyin: Jiǎ Chōng), courtesy name Gonglü (公闾), was a minister and general who served the Sima family. He was trusted by Sima Shi and Sima Zhao. When Cao Mao led a desperate attack on Sima Zhao’s residence (260), Jia Chong’s troops confronted the emperor; Cheng Ji (成濟) killed Cao Mao at Jia Chong’s order. Jia Chong later commanded against Zhuge Dan and took part in the Wei conquest of Shu. He urged Sima Zhao to accept the Nine Bestowals and served Sima Yan as Minister over the Masses after the founding of Jin.
