Cao Chun (simplified: 曹纯, traditional: 曹純, pinyin: Cáo Chún), courtesy name Zihe (子和), was Cao Ren’s younger brother and a cousin of Cao Cao. After their father Cao Chi died when the brothers were young, they inherited the family fortune. Cao Chun commanded Cao Cao’s elite Tiger and Leopard Cavalry (虎豹騎). He fought at the Battle of Nanpi (205) against Yuan Tan, at White Wolf Mountain (207) where his forces captured the Wuhuan chief Tadun, and at Changban (208) where he pursued Liu Bei and captured his two daughters and supplies. Cao Cao held him in such high regard that after Cao Chun’s death in 210 he did not appoint a successor to the cavalry command. Cao Pi posthumously granted him the title Marquis Wei.
