Quanling (泉陵) was a county in Lingling Commandery, Jing Province, corresponding to modern Lingling District of Yongzhou in Hunan. Huang Gai was born there. He joined Sun Jian early and went on to serve Sun Ce and Sun Quan; he is best known for feigning defection and leading the fire-ship attack at the Battle of Red Cliffs.
