Red Cloud (赤云 chì yún) was Guan Yu’s secondary mount, used during the campaigns in Jing Province before he received Red Hare. The swift red steed carried Guan Yu through many early battles and was known for its speed and endurance.
Historical context
Horses were crucial military assets during the Three Kingdoms period. Famous steeds became legendary alongside their riders, and the bond between warrior and horse was celebrated in literature and art. Armor and clothing also carried symbolic significance, distinguishing rank and role.
