The Regent Marshal (大都督 dà dūdū) was the supreme field commander, given authority over all forces for a campaign. In Eastern Wu, Zhou Yu served as Regent Marshal at the Battle of Red Cliffs. Lu Xun held this title during the Battle of Yiling. The position carried enormous but usually temporary authority.
