Wan (宛) was a city in Nanyang Commandery, on the frontier between the central plains and Jing Province, corresponding to the area of modern Nanyang in Henan. It appears frequently in accounts of the late Han as armies moved between the north and Jing.
Wen Pin is associated with Wan in the sources, and the city later featured in campaigns involving figures such as Cao Cao and local governors. Wan and its walled seat Wancheng formed a key pair of strongpoints in Nanyang.
