Jin general and scholar; led one of the armies in the conquest of Wu (280); compiled the Zuo zhuan commentary and other works.

Du Yu (simplified: 杜预, traditional: 杜預, pinyin: Dù Yù), courtesy name Yuan Kai (元凯), was a Jin general and scholar. He took part in the conquest of Wu (280), leading one of the armies that advanced down the Yangtze. He was also a renowned scholar whose commentary on the Zuo zhuan (Chunqiu Zuozhuan) became influential. Du Ji was a relative (same clan in Wei). Sun Hao surrendered to Jin forces that included Du Yu’s command.
