Yang Hu (simplified: 羊祜, traditional: 羊祜, pinyin: Yáng Hù), courtesy name Shuzi (叔子), was a Jin general who held the border with Eastern Wu. He governed with restraint and won the respect of the people on both sides. He and the Wu general Lu Kang had a famous mutual respect: they exchanged gifts and refrained from underhand tactics. Yang Hu memorialised Sima Yan that the time to conquer Wu had come and prepared the way; he died in 278, before the campaign. The Jin conquest of Wu (280) was in part carried out according to his plans.
