Huang Hao (simplified: 黄皓, traditional: 黃皓, pinyin: Huáng Hào) was a eunuch who served Liu Shan in Shu Han. He won the emperor’s trust and over time gained influence over appointments and policy. Jiang Wei and others warned Liu Shan against him; Liu Shan protected Huang Hao. Huang Hao is said to have undermined Jiang Wei’s military authority and to have favoured flatterers. After the Fall of Shu (263), he was captured; Deng Ai or Sima Zhao had him executed (or his fate is recorded differently in sources). He is often cited as a symbol of eunuch influence and court corruption in the last years of Shu.
