Marquis of a District亭侯

A lower noble rank (亭侯) awarded for military or civil merit. The fief comprised a single district (亭) rather than a county or commandery.

The Marquis of a District (亭侯 tíng hóu) was a noble rank below County Marquis but above Marquis Within the Passes. Many Three Kingdoms officers received this title. Zhao Yun was enfeoffed as Marquis of Yongchang District (永昌亭侯). Guan Yu was famously styled Marquis of Hanshou District (汉寿亭侯) by Cao Cao.
