Dong’e (東阿) was a county in Dong Commandery, Yan Province, in what is now western Shandong. When Lü Bu took most of Yan Province from Cao Cao, Cheng Yu, a native of Dong’e, helped keep Dong’e and two other counties loyal to Cao Cao. The defence of Dong’e and Fan and Dongping gave Cao Cao a bridgehead to recover the commandery. Cheng Yu went on to serve as a senior strategist and was enfeoffed at Dong’e.
