Gaoping (高平) was a county in Shanyang Commandery, Yu Province, in what is now the Weishan area of Shandong. Yi Ji was born there. He served Liu Biao and later Liu Bei in Jing Province as a scholar and adviser. (Not to be confused with Gaoping in Hedong, site of the Gaoping Tombs where Sima Yi staged his coup in 249.)
