Gaoping (高平) was a county in Shanyang Commandery, Yu Province. Liu Biao, who later became Governor of Jing Province and an important warlord in the middle Yangtze, was born there. His scholarly reputation and lineage from the imperial clan gave him prestige among the gentry of the south.
