Ma Xiu 馬休

Ma Teng's son and Ma Chao's brother; held at court with his father; executed in 212 when Ma Chao rebelled against Cao Cao.

Ma Xiu (simplified: 馬休, traditional: 馬休, pinyin: Mǎ Xiū) was Ma Teng’s son and Ma Chao’s brother. When Ma Teng submitted to Cao Cao and was summoned to court as Commandant of the Guards, Ma Xiu and Ma Tie accompanied him (or were held as hostages). In 211 Ma Chao rebelled in the west; in 212 Cao Cao had Ma Teng, Ma Xiu, and Ma Tie executed at Ye. Ma Dai, who was with Ma Chao, later defected to Liu Bei and served Shu Han.
