Pingyang (平陽) in Taishan Commandery, Yan Province, was a county in the foothills of Mount Tai, roughly corresponding to the area around modern Tai’an in Shandong. Bao Xun was born there. He became an official known for his frank remonstrance and moral stance in the late Eastern Han, and was remembered in later histories as an exemplar of integrity.
