Sun Ba (simplified: 孫霸, traditional: 孫霸, pinyin: Sūn Bà), courtesy name Zixi (子威), was Sun Quan’s fourth son. In 242 he was enfeoffed as Prince of Lu (魯王). Sun Quan treated him and Crown Prince Sun He with similar favour, which fuelled a rivalry between their factions (the Two Palaces conflict). Officials such as Lu Xun and Zhuge Ke supported Sun He; Bu Zhi, Lü Dai, and Quan Cong supported Sun Ba. In 250 Sun Quan, exasperated by the strife, ordered Sun Ba to commit suicide and deposed Sun He, making Sun Liang crown prince instead.
