Sun Zhong (simplified: 孙钟, traditional: 孫鍾, pinyin: Sūn Zhōng) was Sun Jian’s father. He was from Fuchun (富春) in Wu Commandery. The main historical sources say little about him; later tradition sometimes describes him as a melon farmer who showed kindness to three strangers (said to be immortals), who foretold that his descendants would be kings. His son Sun Jian rose to prominence under the Han; his grandsons Sun Ce and Sun Quan established the regime that became Eastern Wu.
