Wu Jing (simplified: 吳景, traditional: 吳景, pinyin: Wú Jǐng) was the mother of Lady Wu (吳夫人), who married Sun Jian. She was the grandmother of Sun Ce and Sun Quan, the founders of the Eastern Wu state during the Three Kingdoms period.
Biography
Wu Jing’s life is sparsely documented in the historical sources. She is known primarily through her connection to the Sun family, which rose to power in the Jiangdong region and established the Eastern Wu kingdom.
Her daughter Lady Wu married Sun Jian, a warlord who rose to prominence during the late Eastern Han dynasty. Lady Wu bore Sun Jian several sons, including Sun Ce and Sun Quan, who would become the principal founders of Eastern Wu. Wu Jing thus served as the grandmother of the two most important figures in Eastern Wu’s founding.
The Wu family’s connection to the Sun clan through marriage helped establish the network of alliances that would later support Sun Ce and Sun Quan’s conquest of Jiangdong.
