Yuyao (餘姚) was a county in Kuaiji commandery, lying south of Hangzhou Bay. During the Three Kingdoms period it belonged to the coastal network of counties that supported Eastern Wu.
Its location gave it value for movement between inland river routes and sea-facing districts.
