Jiangdu (江都) was a county in Guangling Commandery, Xu Province, in what is now the Yangzhou area of Jiangsu. Zhang Liao was born there. He served Lü Bu and then Cao Cao, and became one of Cao Cao’s leading generals; his defence of Hefei in 215 against Sun Quan’s much larger army became one of the most celebrated feats of the period.
