Empress Xu (simplified: 徐夫人, traditional: 徐夫人, pinyin: Xú Fūrén) was Sun Quan’s concubine. She was the daughter of Xu Kun (徐琨), a cousin of Sun Quan through Sun Jian’s sister. After her first husband Lu Shang (陸尚) died around 200, she became Sun Quan’s concubine and was made adoptive mother of Sun Deng, Sun Quan’s heir. In 212 Sun Quan left her behind when he moved his base, reportedly because of her jealous nature. When Sun Quan declared himself emperor in 229, his advisers recommended her as empress because she was the crown prince’s adoptive mother, but Sun Quan refused and made Lady Bu (Empress Pan) empress instead. Lady Xu died of illness sometime after 229.
