Pinggao (平皋) was a county in Henei Commandery, Sili, in what is now the Wen County area of Henan. (Some sources give Wen 溫 as the Sima home.) The Sima family—Sima Fang, Sima Yi, Sima Fu, Sima Zhou, Sima Wang, Sima Gan, Sima Liang, Sima Rong, Sima Jing, Sima Jun—were from Henei. From this base they rose to control the Wei court and later establish the Jin dynasty. See also Henei Commandery.
